Documents Required for Amazon Seller Onboarding

Amazon Seller Onboarding Process 

Step 1: Creating a Seller Account

Visit Amazon Seller Central, and click on “Start Selling” to create your seller account on Amazon. 

If you have an existing customer account, use the same email and password you used while creating the seller account, and verify your phone number with an OTP.

If you are a new seller, click on “Create your Seller Account”. Enter your name and mobile number, and create a strong password that contains 6 characters.

Step 2: Enter the GST Number

  • After signing up, you need to enter your GST (Goods and Services Tax) number.
  • If you want to sell books, then select the “I only sell tax-exempt products” option.
  • Click on the “Continue to verify” option. On the next page, click on the “Upload GST document” option and upload your GSTIN certificate.
  • Ensure the document is in PDF, JPG, or DOC format and is less than 10 MB in size. 
  • After successfully uploading the document, click on the “Submit the document” option.

Step 3: Enter Your Store Name

  • Pick a unique store name that reflects your business and products, and make it stand out among other customers.
  • You can also choose a name that Amazon generates for your store. 
  • Click on the “Save and continue” option to move forward.

Step 4: Enter the Correct Pickup Address 

  • You need to provide the pickup address so that pickup partners can collect the order from that place. 
  • You just need to ensure that the pickup address matches the one registered in the GST.
  • Click on the “Save and continue” option to move forward.

Step 5: Choose the Desired Shipping Method 

There are two types of shipping methods: Easy Ship and Self Ship. You can choose the most suitable one.

Easy Ship: In the Easy Ship option, you only store and pack your order, and Amazon will dispatch it to the customer. However, Amazon will charge you some additional fees, like weight handling fees. 

Self Ship: In the Self Ship option, you store, pack and ship your products by yourself, or you can opt for third-party services to dispatch your products to the customers. 

Click on the “Save and continue” option to move forward. 

Step 6: Link your Bank Account 

  • You need to enter your bank account details, which include the account holder’s name, bank account number, and IFSC code. 
  • Revenue generated after making sales on Amazon will be transferred to your registered bank account. 
  • Choose the default GST rate/Product Tax Code (PTC) as announced by the government. 
  • Click on the “Save and continue” option to move forward.

Step 7: Optimise your Product Listing

  • Click on the “Add products and start selling” option to list your products, as this is a mandatory step to activate your store. 
  • To list your products, you need to add the product’s information, like high-quality photos, accurate product descriptions, competitive prices, etc. 
  • To start selling on Amazon, you need to finish at least one product listing.

Step 8: Establish Your Store.

Once the product listing is completed, click on the “Start Selling” option to display your products to millions of customers.
